Peyronie - Penile Curvature
What is Penile Curvature?
Penile curvature is when the erect penis is not straight but curves upwards, downwards, right or left. Penile curvatures can be congenital or can occur in later ages due to Peyronie's disease.
What is Congenital Curvature of the Penis?
Congenital penile curvature is a disease that can be seen in 1% of the population, but it is estimated to actually exist in 4-6%. If the penile curvature causes two conditions in the patient, it requires surgery. The first is the difficulty of sexual intercourse, the second is psychological problems such as aesthetic anxiety and lack of self-confidence.
What is Peyronie?
Penis curvature due to Peyronie's disease is most commonly seen in advanced ages. It develops due to calcification between the vein that provides erection and the outer sheath. In Peyronie's disease, pain first occurs, then deformity occurs over time. It can also lead to erectile dysfunction over time. Therefore, it is an important problem for male patients.
What is Penile Curvature Surgery?
Surgical applications are essential in the treatment of congenital penile curvature and penile curvature caused by advanced Peyronie's disease.
In surgical penile curvature treatment performed using the Plication Technique, surgical incision and suture (plication suture) are made to apply traction force to the opposite side of the curvature in the penis and the curvature is corrected.
In advanced cases, the graft (patch) obtained from the leg veins or ready-made grafts (patches) are integrated into the plaque areas formed in the penis and the procedure is performed. In the technique performed with the graft, in addition to correcting the curvature, an elongation is also achieved in the penis.
There is no other application other than these two procedures in the treatment of penile curvature. Fillers, exercises, correction tools, let alone providing the desired result, can damage body health, and should never be used.
